Games to Gambling
I was reading an interesting article on Wired magazine about a new concept of slot machines which implements gaming so the slot machines are more enjoyable to the consumer. It seems that this prototype must be approved by the Gambling commission (and probably will be in my opinion) and could be in casinos as soon as next year.
The concept of gaming...'video gaming'...merging with something so adult as gambling is a great idea. Mainly because the video game slot machine can't really be marketed to little kids, because they obviously must be 21 to gamble. I was never a fan of slot machines, (I was a Pai Gow/Blackjack person myself) and this is a better way to focus on where you are investing you money on. The new slots also suggest that they create less sounds, less bells and rings, which means less annoyances for everyone else in the casino.
This is not the first time that gaming and gambling have merged; there is a website where you can gamble money playing Halo, Call of duty, and other games (I think the website was oneworld dot com i think?). These sites are obviously more teen oriented...play at your risk.
I do hope that gambling become more of a entertainment package then the idea of a business where gluttonous casinos ultimately take your money. Maybe then I can enjoy Vegas or Atlantic City a little more. But I would really enjoy it if Super Smash Bros. was in a Gambling setting...then I would really enjoy it.
